SAFETY REGULATIONS

All projects at the Congress are subject to on-site inspection and review by the LISC Safety and Compliance Committee. The LISC Safety and Compliance Committee may, on the spot, bar any vertebrate project not displaying a valid Vertebrate Certification Form or that is in any way in violation of the Vertebrate Guidelines. The Long Island Science Congress Safety and Compliance Committee reserves the right to bar entrants from displaying their materials if they are deemed unsafe for the entrants or the public in any way, including the following:

1. Electric shock hazards including extension cords

2. High intensity light sources, including lasers, inadequately shielded and strobes

3. Any flames (no flames are allowed)

4. Any flammable materials near heat sources or too accessible to other people

5. Potentially explosive chemical combinations

6. Toxic or corrosive chemicals in dangerously large amounts or in breakable containers

7. Pathogenic or unidentified and potentially pathogenic microorganisms

8. Human blood or blood products

9. Higher animals too accessible to the public or treated inhumanely

10. Any potentially harmful organisms

11. Unsafe equipment, apparatus and/or substances

12. Project of excessive weight and/or size

13. Portion of project usurping floor space
